What We Use and Why It Matters
We use hot water extraction — also called steam cleaning — which is the method recommended by most carpet manufacturers and the IICRC (Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification). It injects hot water and cleaning solution deep into carpet fibers, then extracts it along with the loosened soil, allergens, and bacteria. Dry cleaning methods and bonnet cleaning leave more residue behind and don't clean as deeply. We serve Yorkville, Oswego, Naperville, Aurora, and the surrounding Fox Valley area.
Carpet Cleaning FAQ: What Professionals Don't Tell You
What's the difference between hot water extraction and 'steam cleaning'?
They're essentially the same thing — the industry uses both terms. True steam (above 212°F) isn't typically used on carpet because it can damage fibers. Hot water extraction uses water heated to around 150–200°F combined with a cleaning agent, injected under pressure and immediately extracted. It's the most effective method for deep cleaning and is what most carpet warranties require.
How long does carpet take to dry?
Typically 6–12 hours with good airflow. Running fans and opening windows speeds this up significantly. We use high-powered extraction equipment that removes as much moisture as possible during the cleaning — cheaper equipment leaves carpets wetter and extends dry time. Avoid walking on wet carpet with shoes, and keep pets off until fully dry.
Will cleaning remove pet odors and stains?
Hot water extraction removes surface pet stains and reduces odors significantly. For urine that has soaked into the carpet pad or subfloor, a topical clean alone won't fully eliminate the odor — the source is below the carpet. That's why we offer a pet enzyme treatment as a flat-fee add-on. Enzyme cleaners break down the uric acid crystals that cause persistent odor. We'll tell you honestly if we think you need it.
Is carpet cleaning safe for my kids and pets?
Some companies do use harsh chemical cleaners that can leave residue in carpet fibers — not great when you have little ones or animals rolling around on the floor. There are plenty of effective eco-friendly and green cleaning alternatives, and that's what EZ Breezy uses. We're committed to using eco-safe cleaners on all of our cleaning whenever possible, so you don't have to choose between clean carpets and a safe home.
What's the bait-and-switch to watch for in carpet cleaning?
The classic move: advertise $25 per room, then arrive and tell you the price only covers a 'light clean' and that your carpet needs a 'deep clean,' 'pre-treatment,' 'deodorizer,' or 'protector' — each at an extra charge. By the time they're done upselling, a 3-room job is $400. Our pricing is posted publicly. $195 minimum for 3 rooms. $60 per additional room, staircase, or hallway. Pet enzyme treatment is $75 flat if you want it. That's the whole menu.
